2019 Summer Bucket List

Summer will officially start this weekend, so I’m already thinking about all of the things I really want to do this summer so I created a seasonal bucket list.

1 | Try Outdoor or Rooftop Yoga

There’s nothing quite like taking an outdoor yoga class and I’d like to do that several times over the course of the summer. I’ll research outdoor yoga options throughout my city so can try a few of them by the fall.

2 | Trip to the Beach

It’s so ridiculous, but I never made it to the beach last summer. That definitely cannot happen this year. I’d like to go on a a day trip and plan at least one weekend trip to a beach this summer.

3 | One type of Volunteer Activity

It’s really easy to get caught up in your own day-to-day and forget that there are others in need who could benefit greatly from a small amount of your time, money, skills, etc. Choosing one type of volunteer activity for the summer would be an ideal way to get out of my own head and help others.

4 | Cook More with Seasonal Produce

I want to take advantage of all of the great produce currently in season and make some recipes I’ve bookmarked from cookbooks and food blogs. This is also a reason to visit/patronize some Farmers Markets in my area more often!

5 | Make a Summer Playlist (and play it regularly)

As much as I love music, I’ve gotten out of the habit of making play lists. I’d like to make one big summer one this year that I can have on repeat for the entire season.

6 | Go to Music Festivals, Day Parties, and Community Festivals, etc.

I’d like to seek out more summer events and attend them. This season tends to go by so quickly, it’s a good idea to prioritize attending festivals, events and parties in my city (and nearby ones). I’ve also already purchased my ticket for AfroPunk Fest in Brooklyn which has a great lineup from what I’ve seen so far!

7 | Start a New Book Series

I always have a running list of books I want to read. But I finally want to start the Harry Potter series! I haven’t read it yet (or seen the movies for that matter).

8 | Take More Photos!

I used to be much better at capturing photos with my camera or even my phone. I would like to take more photos this summer and actually print out photos from my last few vacations (starting with last month’s trip to Portugal.

What’s on your bucket list for this summer?
